Hi Nigel,
Below is some independent test results on anchors. I have been reading everything I could  find on anchors for the past 2 years & Cruising Helmsman has also published many good articles on the subject. The one rider is that there is no perfect anchor for every situation one might encounter. I also had a number of conversations with Rex Francis of Anchor Right who design & manufacture the Sarca anchors. I already have the thumbs up from the Admiral after this short time. Regular multiple anchoring attempts does not do anything for good relations with the Admiral on the yacht.
Best Regards, Mike

Hi Mike,

Can I ask how much chain you have? I am about to increase my chain from 30 to 60 metres and replace the Delta 16kg with a Rocna 20kg. This is for an east coast trip this winter. Interested in your opinion.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve, My yacht, "Elara" came with 30m chain & 20m of rope. Not enough for Sydney Harbour at New Year or some parts of the Hawkesbury River area that I frequent. As part of my anchor upgrade I have added another 30+m of chain so now have 60+m of chain & 20m of rope. You are making the right decisions for your trip so that you can sleep well no matter what the conditions. But you still need to be careful once you get into the Whitsundays where you may be anchoring in coral debris on the shores of some of the islands. Enjoy your trip.
Best Regards, Mike
