Hi, I'm considering replacing manual heads with electric freshwater heads. Some people say they are a must, and some say they have constant issues and wish they'd kept their manual heads.

I'm looking for real world experiences; and if you love them or hate them, what make and model you have.

It seems they would be very difficult to service, as everything is concealed. If you have experiences with this, please share.

Thanks.

I replaced the saltwater manual heads with TECMA freshwater heads.     We are very happy with them so far,  although it was one more consideration in putting in a watermaker this past winter.   The TECMA are self-contained replacements and do not require tanks or other large box placements.  Like a Vacuflush system.

With the dishwasher, washer/dryer and fresh water heads you can go thru the tank pretty quickly.  Especially if 4 people are on the boat.   The heads use a small amount, but it all adds up.

I never used the manual heads that came with the boat.. I replaced them as soon as the boat was shipped here.   The thru-hull for the salt-water heads was easily used for the watermaker.

I replaced ours with a Raritan fresh water toilet two years ago. Best upgrade ever. No issues at all and very little water use.

I replaced the aft head with a Jabsco fresh water head.  As sflier said, excellent upgrade.  My wife could not stand the smell of the sea-water heads after the boat had been sitting for a while.

Worth it.
