Hi, there's a new removable traveller being introduced by barton marine from mid december. It looks like the ideal bit of kit for the 320.

Hi. The only information is on their website which is www.bartonmarine.com. looks pretty neat and uses the high beam track. You are still restricted to a maximum unsupported length of 800mm.

I will not go for it; if you remove the traveller, you still have the wheel in the way. LOL

Drumduff is correct in saying that, with the traveller removed, the wheel would still be in the way. Such a removable traveller however would give a little more room in what is already a quite large cockpit. The main benefit though will be for 320's without existing travellers and I'm sure that there are many around. I would certainly go for it provided it was not sold at a stupid price. Mine is a Lewmar, which was fitted at commissioning time. Some reports said that it was not necessary to have a main sheet traveller, but I think that they are wrong. Correct positioning certainly aids the boats efficiency in most wind conditions.

Here is the link: http://www.bartonmarine.com/news-2012/166/new-removable-mainsheet-track-system/

Regards,

John

I wasn't going to fit one as I've done ok without one since we got our boat and I've never been convinced about fitting a permanant one into the cockpit. However this looks just the job so will take a look at it and if the price fits then we'll hopefully have one for next season.

That's my Christmas present sorted then.

My boat has a tiller not a wheel so traveller is not an option. This looks ideal for us. I really miss not having a traveller especially when it's a gusty.

I wonder if I could extend the length over 800mm by having a wire fixed to the existing ring in the floor and to the under side of the track.

You will find some nice solutions. Espeacially the one from our fellow foruminventor his royal highness Admiral Gregor may be very interesting for you.
