When I go on reverse the folding propeller only opens after a few seconds delay and you can feel the clash of the opening blades. I think it needs more resolutions than before. On forward you don't feel anything. What could be the reason for that? What brand/type is Hanse using (H470, 2007)?

According to Hanse After Sales it's a Flexofold propeller (www.flexofold.com) and the reason for the late opening of blades could be some cover of sea vegetation. A quick snorkeling check didn't show anything.

Normally it the folding propel will have a short lag before working when you put the engine in reverse. If this lag time has increased, I would check that the propeller mechanism is properly greased. This may be hard to do when the boat is in the water. If the lag time has been constant since the boat was new, I wouldn’t worry about this. Cheers

After a check by a Yanmar specialist it had nothing to do with the propeller or folding mechanism. It was the gearbox-clutch/conus for the reverse gear that didn't close entirely. By the exchange of the unit it was discovered that there was water in gear lube. This has a great influence on the performance and can cause more damage. The reason was a little damage on the simmenring at the propeller shaft. (i.e. rope or plastic bag around). What I learned: check the gear oil more regulary and exchange after 100-150h. Look carefully at the colour; it should be olive, any yellow colour shows water. If you had something around your prop don't wait too long with a haulout and check of saildrive shaft.

Concerning performance I thing Maxprop is best because no velocity is involved.
