Has anyone ever had a problem with fuel tank leak

I have one or so it seems. The fuel is coming from underneath the tank but I cannot understand how this can be possible to rupture these tanks.

The tank was overfilled 4 months back.Could this have anything to do with it.

Hoping at some time to spend more time sailing rather than fixing

Cheers

Duncan

Hi Duncan, I had the same problem when the boat was new and I completely filled the tank for the first time.
Apparently the filler pipe had a leak somewhere and the Diesel fuel accumulated in the bilge under the tank. Here is how I fixed it:
a) I changed the crappy Hanse sensor to a reliable magnetic sensor
b) I only fill the fuel tank to 90%

I found that my sending unit gasket had warped and leaked when topped off.
Had to remove several gallons of fuel from under the tank. Once the sending unit was snugged down the issue was resolved.
