Has anyone attempted to remove the anchor windlass (Lewmar profish)? I want to reseal the windlass as I think there is a small water leak from under the windlass. I 'think' that the windlass is mounted on studs and the nuts are inaccessible without cutting an inspection hatch in the forward cabin. Is this correct?

Hi Mike,
If you want to access the nuts, you could try my alternative approach. I made an inspection hatch next to the windlass, before ( or is it behind?) the inlet for the watertank. It gives access to the space between the anchor box and the panel at the front end of the forward cabin. At the same time it permits you to reach the nuts of the windlass, the wires of the port navigation light and the contacts of the windlass push buttons (fitted in the cover of the inspection hatch). All that is possible without cutting in the front panel of the forward cabin. Claude |

Thanks Claude That looks like a much better solution and somewhere to add switches for the windlass. Thanks Mike

Hi there,
I cut a hole inside, just below the windlass, and I can see the cables and the nuts. Now it's only a matter of putting an ispection hatch. Edited by cptgood - 11 June 2020 at 18:29 |
