on my new 575 I am not able to lock the motor shaft in order to have the propeller folded when sailing
the volvo D3 motor is mounting an hydraulic reverser and the normal system of putting the throttle in reverse gear position does not work I tryed to put the reverse gear both before and after stopping the engine but it does not work anybody is experiencing the same issue and may be found a solution ? thanks and regards, marco |

I have on my 445 in conjunction with the SMS system also an electrical motor control (electrically by adjusting motor not hydraulic). After I put the engine shut off the engine lever to reverse position and then turn on the master switch off.
Works just fine. Hanse also could not tell me how it works at handover. Are you sure that your system Hydraulic works? |

dear pideas,
I am not sure to understand what you mean in your message How is the exact sequence you use on your H445 to stop the rotation of the shaft ? you stop the engine you engage the reverse gear and you switch off the main motor switch ? you have a Volvo motor ? which type ? D2 ? |

Hi marcopone and pideas
Interesting conversation! we just got the delivery of our new hanse 575 and we are experiencing the same problem (not able to lock the shaft) unfortunately i did not understand how pideas locks the shaft. qte you stop the engine you engage the reverse gear and you switch off the main motor switch ? you have a Volvo motor ? which type ? D2 ? unqte the gear lever is electronic hence reversing the gear after shutting down the engine seems to have no effect on the engine. regarding switching off the motor electricity, I am not sure how that is going to lock the shaft.( also could you please kindly clarify where this switch is located in the boat) thanks in advance

no solution yet, I am still dealing with the many other major problems of this boat and I postponed the solution of this point
it is very strange but I do not find much in the net, this should be a very common and well known problem with hydraulic transmission motors I think eventually we will have to install a disc brake to lock the shaft while sailing, look at this : http://www.bruntons-propellers.com/Autolock/Autolock_home.htm |

Hi
I had the same problem on my hanse 540 with d5 engine. First i had a volvo folding prop, then changed to a three bladed gori. Combining with Stopping the engine when driving forward, it will make the propeller adjist in such a manor that the rotation stops. Good luck Edited by Curio - 16 February 2014 at 20:12 |
