Hi all!
We're soon heading towards Greifswald to take ownership in our new H385#455. Unfortunately we will not be sailing her home during this visit, but leave her in the marina until May. On the upside, that gives us two trips to Greifswald with the possibility to bring extra luggage. Our combined shopping and packing list is based on our own experience as well as the excellent list on MarcoC's webpage. I've never been to Greifswald before, but I have been lurking in these forums for quite some time, and my impression is that one should try to avoid buying marine related equipment in Greifswald due to steep prices. Is there anything in particular that you regretted not bringing from home when you picked up your new boat, and is there anything you brought that you'd rather buy in Greifswald? We're located in Oslo, not the cheapest city in the world, but there's a boat show coming up now (Sjøen for alle), where we might get some good deals on equipment. Any tips are welcome. Oh, and we're travelling by air on both visits to Greifswald, so we're limited to anything that can fit in a (huge) suitcase. Thanks all :) Looking forward to seing our new boat for the first time!

Hi Forsen,
2 years ago I picked up my 385 at Greifswald, nice city, we spend some few days there and enjoyed it, then sailed westwards. There is a good supplier adjacent the factory harbor (Wendel & Rados), I don't think more expensive than any other maritime dealer. I opened an account at the first day and then could write on all the items I bought during the 2-3 days and pay before departure. They gave very good advis, e.g. they installed a Sepa filter in my fuel line. Did you already purchase a Sprayhood and tent / Bimini? If not I strongly suggest to talk to Sebastian Hentschel http://www.tuchwerkstatt.de/home/index.html . They made a really good combination for me. The Sprayhood was ready the first day, the tent with the zipper to the Sprayhood took a week or 2, they even traveled by car to Rostock, where I berthed at the time, but as you will stay a while at Greifswald it would be perfect. I also could use them as receiving address for a number of big boxes shipped by SVB. Enjoy your new boat, I did and still do very much. Best Ralph P.s. Wendel & Rados did the Antifouling for the GFK hull but did not tell me that I should have ordered to coat the Aluminium saildrive and the log Paddels as well. For this one need a different non-copper spray, e.g. Prope-o-Drive. When I took her out at the end of the year we saw a lot of sea life there. |

Hello Forsen,
welcome to the forum and enjoy your new boat. I still do after 4 years. Concerning your need there are 2 big online stores from Germany which set the price level: Both ship to Greifswald. They also publish in thick catalogues the whole range of things a yachtie Needs or might need. These catalogues are updated annually and surprisingly I still find things I might need every year in spring. Both ship to Greifswald. Be aware that browsing through these will signficantly prolong your list and empyt your bank account :) You have the advantage that you can claim the VAT ( 20%) back when you leave Germany for Norway. You need to get a certain form stamped by German customs when you make the trip to Norway. Both SVB and AWN can help you with the procedure.
