P.S.
I now use fender skirts when moored to reduce any scratching or wear on the areas around the fenders.

Hi James,

Vertigo got 6 layers of Alex Seal Dark Grey but no clear coat (as far as I remember!) on top.
Shines already very nicely!

Interesting discussion, After 4 seasons in the Med our light blue hull looks very drab. Any feedback on what we could expect to pay for the cost of a repaint relative to a wrap?

From my side I would believe about EUR 10k for whole operation of painting the hull. I had them to also rework the underwater completely and had to fix a insurance damage (which was to my advantage), so can't say in detail.

Gemini has been repainted using Awlgrip (midnight blue), and now looks better than new.

Our 2001 Hanse 371 Tangleberry was painted with Awlgrip from new. It looked great for 10-12 years.  Eventually it began to fade and show the inevitable scratches and dings. We now have a wrap. The cost of a new awlgrip job was quoted at 16,000 to 19,000 CDN.  White is cheaper than blue. The wrap cost 4200. It doesn't look as good as fresh awlgrip, but acceptable, and easily repaired or patched. Awlgrip cannot really be polished or touched up effectively.

Grahame, I would love to see a pic of your wrapped hull.  Also, let me have the name of the place that did your wrap.  I haven't been able to find a place in my area. Perhaps your dealer could find one for me.
Thanks.

The wrap was already a couple of years old here and in need of a wash.

It was done by Vancouver Car Wraps. It seems car wrap are far more common. Since a boat is much easier than a car, they will generally do boats. It takes a couple of days on the hard. Much faster than paint.
