1. I've been wondering for ages where the dampness
in the front bunk - seen as a wet patch on the sheet up by the bulkhead - has
been coming from. Today I opened the round hatch on the bulkhead and found that
that front space had significant quantities of water in it. There does not seem
to be any limber holes between this compartment and the rest of the bilge (that
is bone dry). Clearly what was happening was that water was splashing onto the
hatch and weeping through the seal; and I was starting to think that
incontinence had started early Looks like a slow and very cold mopping out to be done over the next couple of weeks. Anybody else seen this issue and any idea where the
water is coming from? 2. Both sets
of cables leading to the bow navigation lights are badly corroded and need
replacing. Any idea how to get to them
and where they actually run once inside the pulpit railings? I am assuming they exit under the deck behind
the anchor locker molding but can’t seem to find them coming through the
bulkhead at the edges of the deck into the front cabin... |

Happy new year in an hour or two,
My front regularly fills when we play in big seas, the water enters from lots of little places, the pullpit fixings are four, the anchor roller has had a problem, I have that off at the moment and can see where mastic was not working. Dominic ,who used to work for Hanse, said the drain can weep and I believe there is a thread somewhere. If your wires are the same as mine, on port side behind water tank going back under the port locker, foward up to port and across under anchor locker and up to starboard, nearly imposable to replace I would guess. The area they go up is between hull and front internal linning, I have cut an access hole in this area for a different project and can feel the wire. May be able to get a photo tommorow. I presume your corosion is on terminals in light, I had enough slack to cut off and crimp new conectors then treat with greese. |

Hey Peter,
