As the 345 production number exceeds no # 80 it might be useful to open a new thread for sharing the experiences and improvements undertaken for the 345. I am sure other models could also profit from this thread.

Does anybody know where the fluxgate compass is hidden on a 345 2 cabin version.

I seem to have a deviation of 20 deg. between autopilot heading and COG / magnetic compass.

I dont know about the 2 cabins version but on a 3 cabin version it is under the port side sofa.
In the 325 which is also a 2 cabin version it is in the locker under a wooden floor cover.
Have you performed the fluxgate compass calibration as per owner's manual?
Hope this is of some help.

Well I have found the fluxgate. It is hidden under the fixed floor of the huge cockpit locker mounted to the bulkhead. If you want to get to it you have to unscrew the fixed floor. In my case I would have to remove the grey water holding tank firstUnhappy.

However I was able to inspect with an endoscope linke dto my laptop. This confimed that the fluxgate was mounted correctly with the compass symbol on the top.
Thumbs Up

The problem I am facing with the calibration procedure is as follows:

a)You enter the calibration screen, ok

B)you start the calibration pricess , ok

C)  You are told ot turn the bot 360 deg within a defined range of deg/sec, ok

D) You have an indicator of your turn rate which shows 0.0 deg /sec constantly

E) You have the blinking sign "Calibration in Progess "

F) This goes on for more than 5 minutes where you get dizzy making your turns

Finally you push "Abort"

Hi. This is my first post here.
I have the same problem in my 2 cabin 345. The compass was working fine in the beginning when I sailed the boat from Greifswald to Finland but I think it began, when I installed the gofree unit inside the plotter box. The antenna is pointing down through a ventilation hole.
So could it be so, that the wifi disturbs the fluxgate operation. I have not cheked the fluxgate position yet, but if it is down there, I think the distance between wifi and fluxgate is less than one meter.
I also had lots of stuff in the locker during summer, bicycles, etc. So I think it is not the best possible place for a fluxgate compass.

Hello Matilda,

the fluxgate compass is in fact in the port locker hidden underneath the outer fixed panel. It is mounted to the bulkhead of the shower. I checked the mounting position with an endoscope, it is mounted the right way with the compass on the top side.

I have installed the gofree the same way as you did, in the box at the cockpit table with the antenna pointing out. There are no magnetic components near to the flux, so I don't think that this has an influence.

Did you contact your local Simrad expert ?

Which autopilot this is? On my system (AP24) you can correct this by changing the offset value...

Problem is that fluxgate deviates sometimes up to 7 degrees and this is then displayed throughout the system. This can be caused by items on aft cabin or perhaps by magnetic disturbances in certain areas. Fluxgate was once replaced but no change so I am used to this now...
