I have a chip or two in need of repair on my transom. Hanse used to offer a signal white repair kit, but the shipping for a toxic item was fantastical. Now, it no longer seems to be listed in boatoon. Are there any alternatives available in the US? Hate to end up with a poor color match with a generic product.
Thanks in advance.

Bill,
The repair kits were manufactured by Selvida in Germany. Maybe check their website www.selvida.de and ask if they have a dealer in the US. Their freight costs are reasonable within Europe but not sure what they would be like to the US.

In the UK, a number of Hanse owners have used these repair kits
Unfortunately, the transport restrictions can be rather onerous; initially they would not supply me with any products, as they thought my yacht was based on a Scottish Island, which would mean a ferry trip would have been involved. It turned out that their computer had mixed up the postcodes.

You should be able to go better than a generic colour.
Do you have the appropriate RAL codes? They are a European standard and if they are not known in the US, then this may be useful to get the Pantone analysis, Colour fading can be a problem, but we achieved a very good match on my yacht.

On our Hanse 400, 2010 The white hull is RAL9003 and the Waterline is RAL7043. I ordered twice a pint of gel coat in each color from a supplier that is probably in your backyard;

I forgot to tell you that you will still have to match the color due to the UV effect on the hull.

Bruno,
Depends on the age of the boat and the colour. Our 7 year old white gelcoat is still an exact match. A colour gelcoat, especially a dark colour will be faded and will not match easily.

This is helpful information. Thanks. In your signature on your post it says that you're cruising in the Caribbean and will be heading to the Pacific. Is this all on a 348?

David S,
No, we have a 575. Picked her up from the Hanse boatyard in Germany in mid 2014and spent some time in the Baltic before heading for the MED for 6 season before crossing the Atlantic 18 months ago. Travelled about 35,000nmiles in her so far.
