Hi, very much awaiting for our 355#065 and May cruise to Finland. I'd appreciate any hints/experiences for the delivery process in view of the immediately following 600-or-so nautical miles over the Baltic Sea...
Kind regards

Ville, go through all the hose clamps, check that all instruments works, check that the lid to water tank is properly closed, really closed, check all cables on the battery that they are fitted and tightened, check all mast lamps, hoist sail and check how it feels, do you have autopilot? check that it communicates with your plotter and AP computer, do you have seacharts to the plotter? DONT trust the inbuilt charts in some modells as they dont show routes and marks, you NEEd the card! Go through all hose clamps in the engineroom, tighten all screws and bolts that have to do with watersystem, check VHF radio, check that all indicators of water, fuel and batteries works on the electrical panel, check the rig, turnbuckles etc.
As said in th post above, take time to do the checkings. Couple of days is nothing compared if something fails during the voyage home.
Have you planned a route already which way you will go?

Ville,
Marco has given a good start on a list. I also suggest you spend as much time as possible (at least a couple of days) sailing close to the boatyard (commissioning yard) as you will find at least a few things that need attention quickly as you start to use the boat.

Hi,
thank you very much (und vielen Dank!) for your replies, all hints and recommendations are duly added to my checklist. I have my Finnish dealer checking the boat a couple of days before so I feel quite relaxed about the basics - yet naturally quite a number of things remain. And hope the brisk southwest winds keep prevailing...

Ville,
not that I want to say that your dealer does not know what to do but we all have seen and heard many cases where things have failed even if the boat has been inspected by the dealer before the hand over. Remeber, it is you who is going to sit in the boat for quite many days so trust no one than your self and be sure that you have checked everything that is possible.
