Hi all,
We are travelling offshore and need to have a 3rd reef point put in the main. Has anyone had a 3rd reef installed and how did you manage the reefing line? How does it work if you can't use the car inside the boom to reef the luff and the leech of the sail at the same time?
Thanks Dave |

I got the 3rd reefing line added by North Sails. I do not at present use the first reefing line, but if I later wish to do so, I will consult this link: Cook the Captain

As you say, you can’t use the in boom car.
My rigger reeved a line for the leach which just goes through the leach cringle and back to the boom. I had to sacrifice the port side of my German main sheet system so I could use that clutch for the new reef line. In my case I can’t actually get the luff “spectacles” over the rams horns at the gooseneck so I have to use a short length of line for the luff
