Hi There,I am a new member looking to buy a Hanse 400e or the 43

I cannot makeup my mind to wait or get a 400e now.Even though the season in the UK is drawing in fast>!  Reading some items "most" seem happy with the 400?!  I am thinking it may be best to wait.

your comments welcomed.

thanks.

Terry

My view is it really depends on what you want it for. we were looking for something that would let us do some blue water cruising. So far the 400e is shaping up well, though it needed increased fuel storage, water-maker and general storage. I'm happy that we seem to have adapted it for that use, though so far we've just been across the channel! But if you're looking for something to race round the cans you would certainly fit it out differently.

If the 430 had been available when I ordered I might have been tempted for the extra space. What I would advise is to order well in advance of when you want it. Mine was 3 months late, which might be exceptional, but if you have the chance to order early, I would.

Steve,

We would be interested to hear how you have fitted her out for blue water cruising.  Where did you add the extra fuel?  Where did you put in the extra stowage?

This could make a new thread "Blue Water Modifications".

Steve many thanks for that ,we will not be racing arnd the cans ,it will be for the West Country initially ,Then popping accross the Channel.

I think I may just wait for the 430 though thinking on the same lines.

Here my 50 pence worth.... My current boat is a 370, and thinking into the future (i.e. my next boat) then my choice would easily be the 430. Better fore and aft-cabins being the main reasons.

And I agree to ordering well in advance of when you need her, my boat was also 3 months delayed. Some of that is due to teething problems in the start of a new model, and some is due to extreme order situation, and apparently Hanse and their dealers trading build slots to suit the markets / seasons, and "who shouts the loudest".

Terry,

Couple of data points -
I ordered a 400 at the end of June, factory finish date is said to be 17 November and then transit time to west coast of Canada puts delivery in Jan/Feb. You don't have the delivery issue but it's basically a 5 month wait.

Now, is the 430 even available yet? web site is still saying available summer 2006. Well, sad to say, but there isn't that much summer left! So in the mean time perhaps the wait list for that baby is growing and growing. Delivery could be a lot longer than the 400.

To state the obvious, there is the price - but not just the initial cost but every sail is more, etc....  Chatting with my broker we guessed at close to 80-100K Canadian more for the 430 once fully outfitted. Guess that's in the in the 40K+ pounds. I stuck with the 400 order.

Anyone know when the 430s will start popping out and what the wait is?

Steve thanks for that,I do think I shall wait for the 430,I am not in a rush and I am going to continue to look at other Yachts as well.

I am noticing on this site there are quite a few niggles on many of the Yachts which should have been dealt with by the manufacturer.!!

I have to say I like the look of the Elan impression 43 as well.??

Terry,

You definitely have more room in the 430.

Just looked at Elan, we don't have a dealer network for them so I hadn't considered it. Nice looking yacht! More traditionally finished than the Hanse, I would say. From my brief look, the Impression line appears more cruise oriented than the regular Elan line.

Good luck, it's always part of the run researching and trying to decide!!

Cheers

Was speaking with my dealer this afternoon. Apparently the introduction for the 430 will be the Hamburg (?) show in the fall. Pricing and options are now out....  It's priced about $60K US above the 400 with many items as standard - epoxy, second head, etc....
