I have been looking on the net at Hanse prices. I am in Sydney Australia which must be the most expensive country in the world to buy a yacht.
If I was prepared to buy a new Hanse 445 in any country in the world, which country is regularily the best priced?
One problem is what is included in the price so it can be difficult to compare but I look forward to your experiences!

The prices are as I know internationally the same as a specification of the shipyard.
Everything else is negotiable with the dealer. ![]() Look at this link: http://www.bryggan.net/pdf/prishanse445.pdf |

Hi, I'm an Australian resident living in London with a 461 moored on the South coast of Spain. We planned and still intend to sail her out to QLD but the whole ball game has changed somewhat. Firstly we bought when £:$AUS was about 2.3:1. Sterling and US and Euro have since crashed rate is now 1round 1.45 to 1. I see boat prices new and second hand in Aus have gone down as well in correspondence.
Your main problem are the costs of getting it to Aus. Sure in Europe you can buy either new or good second-hand (my choice). Let someone else pay all the profit margin and get all the problems ironed out and install all those little goodies that are so essential but so b...y expensive! Even allowing 12-18 months sailing to Aus, you will still be up for duty and GST. From what I now know from talking with others who have arrived in Aus, Customs are happy to add in the "shipping" costs from the nearest port, say Fiji, so this talk of adding in the commercial deck rate from UK to Aus is just cr_p. All the same, it will cost. You need to ask, can I buy a good second hand in Aus already? The other factor is the problem of selling. There is NO MARKET in Aus at the moment. If I arrive in Sydney with our beautiful 461 I might sell her if I'm willing to drop to $300,000 or less. For a boat I paid the equivalent of $480,000 plus the contributions I have to make to the government when I arrive. Not a good investment? We intend to moor her in our chosen marina and live on board for one or two years whilst Aus house prices collapse. If you look at such a mooring as a deluxe 3 bedroom apartment in the centre of town with waterfront views, no rates, fixed electric / water etc costs and no gardening, its a great deal. I've been looking at this for some time now. You might want to follow the link below then just keep reading. Not good!! http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f47/importing-a-yacht-from-us-to-australia-14084-2.html Regards, Graeme |
