461 Chain Locker Capacity

This is good information. I am installing 50m with 10mm of chain next week, and this tells me that it will not be any problems.

That's because a Bavaria is made to anchor - not sail (or float).

LOL.  You know, whatever brand you go for, you can't have everything.  If we're going to play this game:

A Hanse 461 could do with more chain capacity, yes.
A Bavaria has a tiny mast so it goes really slowly.  Just look at the two boats together.  A Hanse of the same size TOWERS above a Bavaria.
A Hanse has glassed in bulkheads for extra rigidity and stiffness.
A Bavaria is only glued together and flexes and bends when it is in slings and creaks when it's sailing.  At boatshows have you noticed they use more leg supports than anyone else?
A Hanse is designed by world famous performance yacht designers so that they are a delight to sail
A Bavaria handles like a wimp bit of lettuce and was designed by some guys called J&J - who are they?  Car designers?
A hanse holds it's value.  I traded my 301 in 2 seasons later for same as new boat price.  I heard the Bavaria distributors won't even accept a 2nd hand Bavaria in trade in for a new one!  A bavaria salesman I know told me he knows they are sh*t but he sells them because they are cheap and easy to sell.

So, would I have a bavaria to store chain in, or a Hanse that was fast, comfortable, safe and stiff.  Erm, easy answer. 

BTW - you CAN fit 100m of chain in the locker.  It's just that you need to give it a nudge every now and then as you bring the anchor up to stop it fouling beneath the hause pipe.

marcust, Please do not mention the Hansa masts. I never came accross the spreaders damaging the so called better mast like on Hansas.
