Can anyone tell me how to use the "Tiller" style emergency steering kit supplied with the 461? There is a large boss mounted about 1m from the stern with a hole in it for a winch handle. The disk within this boss rotates about 1/3 of a turn each way but nothing comes out or undoes...
Supplied is a large tiller arm with a slotted head on the smaller leg of the L-shape, which I assume fits into a mating surface inside the rudder post. BUT how do I remove the boss fitting to get at the rudder post? I hate the way Hanse gives no documentation for anything! We had a slight problem with the Autopilot, no compass showing up, but where is the compass unit fitted? Who knows! |

Graeme,
This is a strategy on Hanse's part, it's the "get to know your boat program". When you need to find or fix something you have to look everywhere and in the process you discover where a lot of stuff is hidden. You just need a good memory. Good luck!

Normaly you can find the compass under the bed of the portside aftercabine.

Or sometimes your dealer moves it because that location is too close to big metal things like engines. Another common location is port side locker in the v-berth.
