Where is the AIS physically located?
Also, my boat never had the AIS programmed with an MMSI and was wondering how do I configure it? Do I need a laptop to do it? Thanks! -Marc |

Are you meaning the receiver or transponder?
If receiver, this is likely to be integrated into your B&C VHF unit. You do not need a laptop to enter an MMSI. This can be done using the menu on the VHF. I'd strongly advise doing this so you can use the DSC features of the VHF, although I'm not sure if it is needed for AIS receiver unless you also have a transponder, when it needs to filter out your own boat details. If you have a transponder, this is separate to the VHF, possibly something like NAIS. I'm not certain how to programme this but there will be details on the B&G website.

This boat is supposed to have the Transponder NAIS. Do you know where this is located?

My guess is that it would be somewhere near the main switch panel and the VHF. I am also thinking that you will have an aerial splitter so you can follow the VHF cable from the VHF radio to the splitter and then follow the 2nd VHF output from the splitter to the NAIS.
It does appear that you will need to configure your MMSI number via a PC using a USB cable, however as you are in USA this may not be permitted. There are restrictions in entering the MMSI number and I believe that this must be done by a dealer in USA. |

On my 445 the NAIS is on the hull behind the Wurth switch panel. That is also where the VHF splitter etc are installed. And previous post is correct in the US MMSI numbers have to be dealer programmed.

On mine it is behind and to the left of the dc panel. Directly behind the chart plotter and radios. I think it can be programmed via usb and the proAIS2 app.

Have the B&G V50 VHF on our 415 and have just entered our new MMSI.
Hold Exit (X) and Scan buttoms while turning on Enter the code 7100 to enter dealer mode Follow instructions in the menu to do the factory reset and enter the MMSI. Located in Denmark, may be different elsewhere.
