Hanse 508: Does anybody have a pic of the additional bench in the saloon with the attached cupboard? (XL7220). It's a very usefull option for addtional storage room and to get a hold walking through the boat when sailing. (handrails attached)

P.S. That's what I found on the web:

Yes, I installed the unit for the hand hold and storage reason. Excellent. Great handy storage for the galley. I can supply photos next week.

Hi Tobo

When we ordered boat, the option was not available from factory.Had it built by yachtwert..not cheap but we really worth it......extra cupboards and nicer seating.

In the meantime the centerpiece ist mounted. It took about three months(!) to get the handle.
We even mounted some hinges to open the seat which is secured by a spring.

OK

I love your hinge idea.....did you say secured with a spring or a cylinder?

You just added one more job to my bucket list in the spring(I hope).

It's a spring. I invested quite a few hours to improve or remove the weak points on a serial built yacht. This is not a reproach specifically to Hanse; you will find these kind of unfinished ideas on every serial built yacht. My reproach is more: Why, dear shipyards, don't you listen more to us owners and incorporate our ideas into your faceliftings of the models!! At least we Hanse owners have a forum. Thanks to Phil. Ever heard of a Bavaria or Beneteau forum? Iknow people who decided to buy a Hanse yacht because of this helpful forum!

Mine came stock (I believe it was stock on the 505?). The "island" part let go during a passage from Hawaii when we were heeled over and someone leaned on it. Found that only 2 very small wood screws fastened to the drawer part were all that was keeping it upright! I through bolted with 3 beefy bolts, and now it is rock solid.

Typical of my experience so far with Hanse. 95% is done to an excellent standard for the price, surprisingly good for money.  Then 5% is shockingly bad.
