   One of the Aircons has started behaving strangely.It works for a while and then stops. Lights stay on, there is no HPF flash. I have checked the inlet and outlets for barnacle buildup and can’t see anything obvious. It restarts when I turn it off and then back on again most times but then stops anywhere between 30 min later to a couple of hours later.

Any ideas?

	OK... so I am assuming the normal HPF fault that is caused by poor sea water intake isn't the problem.. 1. Is there anything being displayed on the control pad? 2. When it stops, what happens? Breaker pops? Fault on keypad? Smoke & Flames? 3. Which zone is it? I have four units on my 575. One forward, 2 in the salon and one aft. The fact that it restarts and then goes off 30 minutes (or more) later seems consistent with some kind of water flow problem. Its tough to tell given the below water discharge. You might need to close the discharge seacock, disconnect the hose from the seacock, and see what the flow outbound from the unit looks like. FWIW - I'd be interested in finding out where this ends up...

	Sounds consistent with thermal cutoff due to insufficient cooling water flow. The heat exchangers can build up with sludge. Usually flushed through with Hydrochloric acid to clean out.

	The same kind of build up can occur on the heat exchanger for your generator. Every 5 years or so I find myself having to deal with the generator overheating. The root cause is the calcium/scale buildup inside the heat exchanger. Some folks use hydrochloric acid or a brand name (SCALZO or RIDLIME or something like that). Its the difference between a trickle of water coming out of the heat exchanger or a steady stream. That difference easily causes overheating.
