We‘re new here... so Hi everyone! 🤗
Does anyone know, what kind of AIS splitter is used on a Hanse 388 that was delivered with the Navigation Upgrade package? Is it the Navico NSPL500, so a proper splitter that can be used with a AIS transponder or just a simple antenna fm splitter (ie Glomex)? Right now we have the B&G V60 radio with built in AIS receiver and would like to add a SOTDMA transponder. If possible also keep using the V60 AIS.  Not sure how to set this up and where do we find the splitter (sorry for asking. We don‘t have access to the boat right now) Thx!

You should find the B&G splitter located in the area behind the main switch panel.  It is ready for connection to an AIS unit and I seen to recall mine even had a spare cable plugged in.  Ando ready for connection to an AM/FM radio for your music.

I used an Nmea 0183 transponder but didn't bother connecting any output as the V50 was already working as an AIS receiver.

No problems with signal quality on VHF or AIS as far as I could tell.

There is a version of the V60 VHF that includes a AIS transponder. It might be worthwhile have it a look at that to simplify installation. I think that you still need to use the splitter though, so check that regardless.

It's the V60B and I just installed it. It was a 5 minute join on my 418 as all the cables were there from the splitter etc. The dimensions are identical to the V60 supplied on my 418(#120).

Thanks for your answers! 👍
V60b is an option, but its not a SOTDMA device.
Pretty sure they will upgrade that in the future.
Advantages: Better visibility in busy areas. Plus 5W power instead of 2W. Small differences in daily use - I know 😉
Plus: An Amec AIS costs less than 700€, if Idon‘t need an extra splitter (thx for the info!). So I think, thats what we‘ll do. Well, if Corona allows... still not sure when marinas will open.
Happy and healthy sailing ⛵️!

It is, indeed, the NSPL-500.

Will we be seeing you on the chartplotter next summer? Smile

Yes. You will. Found the Navico splitter right behind the B& G vhf. Opened panel and „looked up“ with smartphone. All prepared for AIS, no extra splitter needed. 👍
The B&G V60 only needs its normal antenna input and uses that for VHF and AIS receive. So we can continue using it, just making sure our mmsi is marked as our boat to avoid constant CPA warnings. And: We have to switch of NMEA2000 on one of the devices. „See“ you!
