Hi All 371 Owners,

I currently have the 22lb (10kg) Delta on my bow and have been using it for the last 2 seasons with success, but I am considering going up one size to the 35lb (16kg) Delta or perhaps to a 33lb (15kg) Bruce anchor. I'm curious to know how many 371 owners have either of these on their bow and what their comments are as to how well these anchors fit the Hanse anchor sprit/roller. For example if you upgrade to the 35lb Delta, does the locking holding pin still fit through the anchor?

Your comments are appreciated.

Bob, 371-#235

Hi,

I have the 16Kg Delta on my 371.  It fits fine on the roller but the locking pin doesn't fit as the hole in the anchor does not line up.  I simply removed the locking pin.  The windlass wound up tight holds the anchor in place and as a backup I have a small bit of line tied through the holes and on to the anchor.  An alternative might be to drill another hole in the anchor but I guess that would void the warrenty and in theory weaken it.  Doesn't seem worth it when a bit of string works fine!

I agree with Marcus.  We have both the 22 and 35 Delta.  We have not removed the pin from the roller.  Normally we carry the 22 and use it as a day or weekend hook, and keep the 35 at home.

When we go off for a longer term cruise, we carry the 35 on the roller.  It fits fine, but of course the pin dangles.  For passages we put the anchor in the locker and off the roller.  For short distances, we just lash it in place.

Primary reason for the 35 is that I like to sleep.  When we are at anchor on the 22, my wife sleeps very lightly, and wakes me up to check if we are dragging.  On the 35 she sleeps more soundly.

We also carry a 44 Fortress.  We carry the same rodes for all three anchors - either 60 or 100 feet of chain, then 200 feet of three strand.

The 370 now comes with the 16kg delta as standard.  The spec originally said 10kg - but she came with the 16kg.

We have the 15kg Bruce on our 371. It fits just fine in the bow roller, and I
can't imagine trusting the boat to anything smaller. I have actually been
considering going one size up and keeping the present anchor for a 2nd
anchor - but have not done any investigating on that topic yet.

I have a smaller (7.5kg) Bruce that I use for mooring my 17' power boat. I
drilled a hole in that anchor to enable me to use my anchor roller pin. I don't
really think that the little hole seriously weakens the anchor, but it probably
would void the warrantee, as was mentioned.

I don't know about any original spec, but in Norway the price list says the anchor is an option. The price list also states that a 10 kg delta is used for 312 and 342, and a 16 kg delta is used for 370 and 400.

I'm adding a bruce as a second anchor. I'd use a 15 kg bruce if it were my primary anchor, but as a "second anchor" I'll probably get a 10 kg for easy handling.
