Have now also installed the wireless remote for the windlass and the bow thruster. The windlass was easy but the thruster made trouble. Every time I tried the thruster is ran for an glimse of a second and then shut off. The problem was that the negative was not common ground between my consumer batteries and the windlass/winch/thruster bank. So the remote reciever got the wrong negative as feed. To avoid that the Anchor Windlass switch and the thruster switch both on the e-panel can "see eachother" and by accident power each other - the remote has a feed line from both switches but they are going through a diode / rectifer egp50g (3 pcs. Shown) ![]() As the bowthruster is retracteble it is still the helmsman that desides when to deploy/retract the thruster. The crew on deck can only engage the sideways operation of the thruster. And If the anchor switch on the E-panel is not engaged - it is not possible by accident to lower the anchor during docking manoeuvres... Edited by H8jer - 28 June 2020 at 12:05 |

Hi H8jer and Jeb
I'm about to do the same job as you did: Frontmounting a horizontal windlass on a Hanse 370. My question for you are: How did you got access to inserting the bolts supporting the plate holding the windlass? From within the space between the hull and the anchorwell - I mean. I do have a round inspection hatch at the frontend of the bed, but have to be an acrobat to solve it from there. Did you instead removed the vertical white wooden plates in each front side of the cabin? How did you strengthen the joint - By adding a big washer on the inside? |

Anders, its your namesday today, atleast in Sweden! It you look at my picture from June 18 you can se a white inspection hatch in front of the GRP shelf. This was installed by the privious owner when installing the bowspit. When I had made the GRP shelf I drilled the 3+3 holes in the shelf and fixed it temporary with hot-glue. Then marked the holes in the anchor box. I then fabricated 2 aluminium bars (10x30mm) and drilled and threaded 3 M8 holes in each. With the shelf removed I could fit that bar thrue the inspection hatch and used the outer holes as guide. The bars were glued in place with Sika and held in place with the M8 bolts while curing. I then removed the M8 bolts, re-attach the shelf and tightened it up again with sika.

Hi H8jer and jeb,
I have planned to move the winch from the original mounting to a similar one as you. Do I understand you right that the basement for the winch is bolted to the inner liner? I wondered if that was strong enough?

I believe it’s strong enough. And the shape of the anchor locker provides additional strength. I have seen this solution on several 370/400.

Hi
Regarding the Anchor Windlass installation. I wonder if you have reinforced the sides of the anchor well, or is the stainless steel plate attached directly to the standard well? Thank you Lars Hansen DK

Hi Lars I have not reinforced the sides. They are 5mm thick and there have not been any issues. I have Brackets on the backside.
