Hello,

is there any specialist who knows exactly if it is possible to take an antifouling with copper in NL?

Our dealer in medemblik has taken micron kopervrij in spring when he delivered our ship.

The guy from the shipyard in Lemmer where the ship will stay for the winterseason said a few days before that it is possible to take every antifouling at the moment. Also with copper.

What's right?

Thanks for replies

Detlef

Hi Detlef,

I am not a specialist but you can buy antifouling with copper. There are some numbers(the paint has numbers) which are allowed and you can also buy them. So at this time it is allowed. But indeed some people say that it is forbidden and other it doesn't. It is still a 'grey area'. You can put everything under your boat (also stuff what is not allowed), because they've stopped with controls on paint. I have very good paint under my boat from Hempel(not allowed) with copper and it is selfpolishing for instance.(bought that on the internet sometime ago.

'Micron kopervrij' is a good alternative according to some tests I've read. But the best is still with copper and selfpolishing, also because you are sailing on salt-water I think?

greetings,

Hi Martijn,

thanks for your answer. Our ship lies in Lemmer at the Ijsselmeer. So we sail not only salt-water.
In germany are some guys -sailing in NL in salt-water-  who are very  unsatiesfied with micron kopervrij.
So we will see in about 14 days when our ships comes out of the water
Cry what's with our antifouling. But I think I know what kind of antifouling I will take then.

greetings,

Detlef

Hi Detlef,

Well if I was you I would buy the self-polishing with copper.

And a little bit of copper is really good for the water.(thats no joke)

Good luck!!

greetings,
