    Posted: 01 October 2020 at 10:56
Hi, hopefully someone can help me. I lifted the float switch for the automatic bilge pump just to check it and the pump wouldn't turn on. Using the manual push button on the Wurth panel turns on the pump.
So I thought that the float switch had broken, however on testing it was fine, the issue seems to be that there are two power supplies to the pump, one via the Wurth panel and one from the "Always on" circuit that goes to the float switch.
I have checked the fuses and there only appears to be one fuse listed for the bilge pump which was ok, so my question is there another fuse somewhere on the "Always on" circuit? The companionway light and radio still work and as I understand the are on the always on circuit too.
Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions
All the best

On my boat (575) there is a fuse below the nav station on the "Hanse board" which controls the bilge pumps.   In other words, no panel breaker/switch controls it,  but it protects the pumps.   Not sure if your boat has the same electrical setup.  I have both a main bilge pump and a mast bilge pump.   I went thru everything you seem to be now when I replaced my main bilge pump with a bigger pump and moved what was there to the mast bilge.

The good news is that even if the diagrams are wrong, the wires are usually labeled correctly.  If you find the wire labeling, you can find the fuse.    I replaced mine with "glow when blown" fuses so that I would not have to hunt or look things up in a book again..

Same with my 445. The main power supply to the pump
is on the main DC panel below the nav table.

I have no experience with Wurth, but on the old Calira panel the setup is as this:

Breaker 16 is for the bilge pump, but just below it is the switch marked "m-0-a", which is "manual-null-auto".
If this switch is in "0", no current goes to the bilge pump, even if breaker 16 is on.

Hi, thanks for the replies, on what you describe as the Hanse / main DC panel we have a 10 amp fuse at X9.3.1. I have checked this and it is ok, but think it is the fuse for the manual control of the bilge pump not the supply to the float switch. I will check again when I am next on the boat, but think there must be some fuses somewhere for the items on the "Always on" circuit.
All the best

Did you check the wires leading into X9.1.3 to see how it was labeled?    Usually there is a "Main Bilge Pump Switch" or something tag on it....    If you find the float wire, then you'll know..

Unless your boat was not fortunate enough to have labeling like this..

Hi Rick
Thanks for that, I checked the cable labels, which were above the top of the opening so quite hard to see but I found it, not at X9.1.3as the diagram showed, but next door at X9.1.2
All works now and it was a good opportunity to lift all possible floor boards and have a good clean.
The one thing that struck me with all the floor boards up is that there is an awful lot of wasted storage space below them!.
Many thanks for your help
All the best

Hello Ayala,

It was all part of the document pack I received from the dealer when I bought the boat. Wires are labeled on my boat but it is not always easy to read them.
