Hey.
My Hanse 411 from 2001 has no strong bow fitting, that is originally made for gennaker or code-0 sailing. The stainless steel front plate at the steven works as fixing plate for the forestay. This is not connected to the top plate at the bow, where the bow pulpit is mounted on. Do you have a solution for this? Can you show your bow arrangement? BR Johannes

The 411 and 371 are more or less of the same design - my 2005 built 371 has a separate "pipe" piece that should be inserted on the bow, to attach a gennaker. The clew is too close to the forestay for a code-0 on a furler (or so I have been told).
I only have a gennaker, so works fine for me. ![]() The pin can be found here, or on the Hanse Boatoon site:

Hey. Thanks for your very quick response. We do not have this solution. Here is a picture from our bow construction. They tried to use a stainless steel ring, mounted on the anchor fitting, to attach the tack line of the genanker there. Unfortunately ... the anchor fitting is only connected to the stainless steel top plate. And this is only fixed by one screw at the front part to the boat hull. The loads from the gennaker (to the sides and upwards) can not handled by this... The top plate moves some mm up by using a Gennaker there. Thats why we are looking for a better solution. The loads have to be directed more downwards. ![]() |

I have a 371 with 60m2 code0, which I use in light to moderate wind to ≈40° apparent.
![]() This requires quite tight sheeting: I have double halyard up to mast and occasionally use also an inhauler to keep the sail in shape.
I have often sheeted this as tight as I can with the regular 40x Harken winch & double halyard ... yes, in 10 years the "pipe" is like new, but there is light bend on the tube it attaches to. Works well for me (know on wood). Edited by PekkaL - 12 December 2023 at 14:52 |

This is the other side of my arrangement: the double halyard. You'll note that tight sheeted codes like to eat halyards - unlike spinnakers or gennakers. You really need to go through the block and not the metal eyelet in the mast.

I will gladly add to that. Adding the block will save the halyard. I ran mine through the eyelet and the chafe of an Atlantic crossing cut through the sheath.

Dear PekkaL, do you have a wider photo of this section? I would like to see the bow fitting arrangement below the anchor roll. BR Johannes

You can barely see the bow: there is nothing supporting the gennaker/code0 attachment. There is a support for the teak step, though.
