It has been a challenge but I finally have the new door installed.   It was "lost" in shipping from Hanse. then pandemic...and nearly a year later, it is replaced.

The door from Hanse is a rough fiberglass layup that is oversized and needs to be fitted to the opening. I had to use a boat yard because I don't have the resources to cut, grind and fair the door to the opening.  We used thru bolts for the bracket mounting.   It was tedious and time consuming work from a skilled craftsman.

I'll always be worried about losing it again.

Lashing the door closed is difficult because its hard to get access.  Pulling the fuses is pretty easy and I have them marked.

Finger crossed, knock on wood......please be fixed for ever!!

be sure to also have an isolator switch fitted to turn off all electrical power to thrusters. The doors drop due to sensors being activated if the door opens partially in a heavy sea.

Rob,

I think the two 15 amp fuses on the board outboard of the chart table are for the controllers at the helm and do not stop power to the thrusters.

I don't think its anything specific to Hanse or QUICK.    I have two friends with drop down thrusters on really expensive boats that have had a similar problem crossing oceans in rough weather.

Agree on the power disconnect, but on a passage I would still secure with a lanyard or other restraining device.

How can you lock it? There is a spring, so blocking the cantilever is not enough...

There should be a lanyard at the base of the drive motor , which is to be tied off to the actuator lever arm to keep the door closed.

Once that is done , you must disconnect the bow thruster control power by pulling the fuse at the big fuse panel under nav. table . The main disconnect switch located at the bow thruster batteries only turns off the power to the electric motor only . This does not disable the actuator piston that lowers the thruster.

Hope this helps
