in my humble opinion, this not a simple case of NORMAL wear and tear. The rate of failure (likely many more than we know), indicates that there was clearly a design flaw at work. This is a latent defect and it should be treated by Quick as such. They should be bending over backward to address this and they are not. Business as usual I guess, but if Quick is not stepping up, then Hanse should as the builder. I won’t hold my breath. I’ll be on the hard till well into the summer waiting for parts that I’ll have to pay for and install. Not to mention the haul out and labor. Disappointing for sure.

100% in agreement with you, but since the first failure back in 2016, I have been fighting both with Quick and Hanse and never got satisfaction... I decided to keep the cost for me and since now have a spare modified one onboard... the cost is 355 euros for the part + hauling and job of course. The main point is to make sure you got the modified version, with the screw in the lower part. |

I have a Jeanneau 64 and have the same thruster QUICK BTR 250 as sterntruster and had this junction issue few times. In my case the connection for the junction on the motorside was bended a bit aswell but we have not realized that to the beginning. After replacing the junction truster worked well but it kept giving alarm, which we could not sort out.
Last year when my boat was on dry, i made the mechanic take out the BTR250 complete and check every part and then we have realised that the motor connection was bent and had caused probably a second time of junction problem. After replacing them both I have full functioning sterntruster now and hope it stays so. The connection is marked on page 42 as part 6.

Mehmet, thank you for posting. I’m sorry for your troubles. My “motor connection” has also been bent but luckily I noticed it when I removed the junction (Universal Joint). Quick has told me that it is a 2 month wait for parts. Was that the case with anyone else?
