Does anyone know if it is possible to change the layout of the two forward cabins into a one bigger master cabin in a Hanse 495? If so, any ideas where to find the needed materials in the USA?

Coastaldoctor,

The 495 was offered with two double cabins forward as an option. The fitout (cupboards and shelves etc) found in the standard owners cabin version is left out and the beds go from the hull to the dividing wall which fits into a slot in the deckhead. Likewise you will probably find there are other deckheads slots where the cabin aft bulkhead and doors fit. So it is possible to turn these two double berths in a single double cabin but as far as I know there is no kit available from Hanse to make this happen. A experienced shipwright should be able to remove the current berths, dividing walls and aft bulkhead and fit the cupboards, shelves, berth etc that would normally be found in this layout. The fibergalss structure is the same on both varients. The deckhead wall slots are visible on the standard owners cabin layout. The timber finish - American Cherry or Italian Lime Washed Oak etc should be available in the US to match the other timberwork in the boat. I would be an expensive exercise I would think.
