Does anyone have pictures of the cockpit traveller for the mainsail for the Hanse 315? I haven't see any pictures on the Hanse website. I'm strongly considering installing the Harken system. |

Frode Scotch mist is a 312 with wheel steering. We have a Barton main sheet track & traveller. its been adapted to 3 times purchase. The traveller control lines cleat at the track ends and exit rearwards. the problems are :- 1 the crew (sitting forward of the wheel) can't conveniently use the control lines. 2 there isnt really enough purchase. 4X would be better. last year I saw a Harken system with control lines exiting at either side of the car and even better - there was a clutch so that if one line was pulled, the other released. It was expensive, but to my mind if I had the choice I'd fit the Harken system . |

Andrew, Do you have a picture of your traveller set up? I also have a 312 with wheel steering and I'm planning to fit a traveller but I want to make mine demountable so it doesn't clutter the cockpit in port or interfere with the folding table. Thanks for your comments above - I was looking at the Harken system and I was thinking that the 4 to 1 purchase might be useful with that huge mainsail! You've confirmed my thoughts. Yes a picture from a 371 would be useful.
Was your traveller fitted by Hanse or did you do it yourself?
Someone from Hanse UK told me that they fit the Harken traveller and that there are aluminium plates glassed into the seats for tapping and screwing into from above. This sounded ideal as I want the option of demounting it in harbour.
 When I spoke to Harken, however, they said that their track had to be secured from below. So whose track do Hanse use?

Also - how many bolts are used on each side for the traveller rail in the cockpit?
Do the bolts go through the bench and into the cabin roof below?
I've noticed when tapping against the cabin roof that it appears more solid in one position where the traveller rail bolts might come through. I hope the aluminium plate is standard in all Hanses!
Of course, I'll let all know how mine turns out when it arrives.

Please do, I have plans for next season to find a way to install a traveller rail (Rutgerson) that can be demounted in harbour.
I'll keep you informed of any succes or failure. |

This is the H
 arken traveller installed on my 315 by Hanse UK. The only disadvantage is that the mainsheet control is behind the wheel, but on the other hand I use the traveller more than the sheet, especially when it is gusty

I suppose they must penetrate, but into an inaccessible space. I can't find anything on the inside. Perhaps they are not bolts but screws!
