D2-75/150s friction plate

   My Volvo tech suspects the friction plate is going to need replacement soon. The saildrive is making some noise, sort of a rattle, at idle speed while in forward gear, which goes away at any RPM above tick-over (about 800 rpm). Transmission still shifts smoothly. 
Anyone have this issue previously? And insights would be appreciated.
