We went with Simpson Laurance slide in davits as we think davits generally look aweful when up - but we know they are useful to stow the dinghy for short cruising legs.

So with the SL deck plates fitted to take the drop in davits, one can easily remove the whole lot and store them in the lazarette.

But when fitting the davit base lates onto the flat area above the 461 transom, it became obvious the stresses of dinghy plus outboard PLUS any added loads (rainwater etc) could well lead to some aft deck flexing. That could result in unsightly gelcoat cracking on that aft deck area just behind the seats.

Our solution was to have two supports made up in tube wide enough so the davit bases can slot into these supports - and thereby prevent any flexing at deck level. You can see one below (it's the right side support - the other tube is our radar pole <and no thats not rust - just the camera playing tricks>).

Simple solution for a possible problem and should ensure Swagmans backside remains looking pretty.

Cheers

JOHN

No longer a Hanse owner - but loved the one we had!
