My Hanse has a damage on the cabin top anti-slip, which was repaired poorly. Does anybody has experience with repair or replacement that showed better results? |

I am sure there are boat plastic surgeons who could make that look great, but I do have one suggestion that is a somewhat temporary fix but could be very helpful. Harken has a new product ("Marine Grip") that is an adhesive non-slip pad that gives very good grip and stays in place very well. I am trying them on my 385 in places that have smooth fiberglass but where anti-slip protection would be nice. They come in black, gray and white, and in various sizes. I don't know how well it would apply to the non-slip surface on your boat, but it is very sticky and I bet would cover the area well and camouflage the issue. Attached is a photo of a strip in place on my boat. You could get a wider piece, and it blends very well with the white fiberglass. The only issue I have seen so far is that they do show dirt pretty easily. Just an idea until you find the right repair person. Or it could be all you need?

Thanks for your suggestion Andy. That may work well on a smooth surface, but I'm afraid it may not hold well on this anti-slip area. A friend on the harbour suggested to make a silicon mold of an undamaged area of the anti-slip pattern first, larger than the damaged part. Then grind the damaged surface of the deck flat, apply gelcoat on the corresponding area of the mold and place it on top of the grinded area. If placed carefully, the notches of the intact anti-slip around the damaged area will keep the mold in the correct position.

JohannesL,
We were given a piece of silicon deck mold by a friend from the US who had been trying to match his deck nonslip for the same reason as your damage. Apparently the moldings are available in the US and probably Europe as well. But your idea of making a silicon mold from a good part of the deck would work the same.
