Topic: Foldable nav station seatPosted: 22 April 2024 at 08:14 |

Hi,
I have a 385 from 2015, without a stoel for the nav station. However, on the internet, I saw some earlier models with a seat like this: https://hanse.boatoon.com/en/shop/article/24542/nav-station-folding-seat Is there anyone with experience on how to retrofit these, or alternatives? I remember reading this seat requiring a support somewhere, and it is not part of the boat anymore. My goal is to have the nav table usable, at least in calm conditions, and visually “complete” the nav table setup… Thanks in advance, Çağrı

This was not an option for the 385 and I don't think there is sufficient beam for the foldiing stool (which I have on the 458) to work. It attached to a bracket on the floor which I 'm sure must bolt to a screened stringer.
My previous boat was a 385 which I commissioned in Greifswald in 2015. There were two options available for the saloon layout. The standard option had the chart table against the heads with a full length settee. The chart table was oriented to be used sitting on the settee, facing aft. I took the optional layout that placed the chart table in the centre with two individual seats on either side. The chart table was on a slide which allowed it to be lowered to create a full length berth. On this option the table could be used from either of the two seats. Although I don't do much navigation below decks, I did use the nav table as a work station for my laptop. We liked having the two seats as it was a nice option for having a coffee or breakfast without using the full dining table.

Thanks for the quick response!
Indeed this is what I would have done if I were ordering the boat from the factory. In my opinion, the current chart table is a half-baked accessory. I am considering ordering a small chair, that I attach under the table when not used, something similar to the one here: https://www.thomann.de/nl/millenium_dtrab1118_drummer_sitz_pneu.htm My goal is similar to yours, just using it as a study when stationary. |

This will go flying round the cabin every time you tack. Why not just use the end of the settee as intended?

Just to clarify, my intention is to use this when stationary- at anchor or marina.
The seat is a good option for a minute or two, underway, but longer time it is pretty annoying for my height. Also, being right handed, my elbow hits the side. |

Just to share, I got the drum throne. It is pretty comfy despite the size. And I keep it in place with a couple of bungees underway.
