Hi,

around my mast base (correct word?), there are several plug / socket combinations:
- bow wards: 3x lights and NASA Clipper (worst cable ever)
- sides: radio, more lights

The front plugs are often affected by the genoa sheet, the side ones are having the perfect angle to to catch lines and leeks. Also once a season I need to repair some rusted contacts (particularly NASA).

Do you have different setups?
How do you protect the plugs and sockets?
Are you using a goose neck or deck seals?

Here a picture of the mess...

best
Martin

I think most of the newer boats have a stainless tube with an upside down U to stop water ingress.
In theory all the cables should go through this with junction boxes or wago connections in a recess inside the boat.
I dropped my mast for the first 3 seasons with my 385 - haven't tested the 458 yet.
It might be worth considering how much work it might be to replace your numerous deck glands with something like the U bend.
