I need to remove my rudder this winter as it seems to be full of water. Any tips? Don’t think it has ever been removed.

Why remove it? why not10mm drill holes in it in a line vertically untill you find the ones that stop leaking then stop drilling holes Then let the water drain out over 3- weeks Then pump some foam in- not ordinary builders foam Then repair splits & holes However if the rudder is an original polish one then buy a jefra one It will improve performance If tiller steered Just release the ring under the top bearing & the rudder clamp at the top and the clamps around the flexible seal where the main GRP shaft ends & the shaft will drop out A good time to order new bearings from Jefra & the flexible seal can be remade from some cloth from a bouncy castle firm They will have lots of offcuts for repairs plus adhesive
