The lightning concept of the Hanse 470 is well balanced and the spotlights look very modern. The only week point is the galley and my "cook" always complained about that. Two more spots changed the situation dramatically. You can cook now on the bright side and I have no more excuses to leave it to the expert. (One mans blessing is another mans curse

Top idea and where did you get the extra down lights from? The factory, dealer or another supplier? Also did you run them off the current lights? was it simply a matter of splitting the feed?

The organiser is from a Swiss furniture shop called "interio", a better version of the Ikea. The feeding is just split I suppose because I let it do by the eletrician. But it was very narrow, the lights touched the ceiling and neede two more screws to fix it.

The lights are original from Hanse and my dealer respectively an electrician mounted them and I suppose he connected them with the other two.

does anyone know if the interior bulbs can replaced with an led alternative? I found them quite heavy on the juice!

Tobo, I also like your wall organizer. Never seen one like this in the States. Looks like it was made for that wall. I'm going to look at my 370 this weekend and see if I have the same wall space as your 470. Thanks for the picture and idea. Mike |

We trialled a number of MR11 LEDS about a year back and found them too cold and too weak to replace all the halogen globes below.
Some had only 5 LEDS, others had 11. Both to my eye, only gave out 30% of the light given by a 10 watt halogen globe.
Maybe today there are warmer 'super' LEDS one could use. If so I'd also appreciate knowing whats available.
However, we did replace one interior lamp over the gally for the long trip - and that, plus swopping Aqua Signal regular globes in both anchor and tri-colour saved us lots of joiuce this past summer. Its something I'd recommend to any cruiser.

Hella Marine do Nav lights in Approved marine LED. I replaced just the bulbs of my Nav lights and the power consumption went from 6 amps down to 0.6 amps so I am going thru with replacing more. The Cold LED interior bulbs I agree are not good in the galley but you can get warm white which I now have on order. I have an aversion torunning the engine for 2-3 hours per day for battery recharge so am going right through the boat on a power reduction exercise.

Did you replace the hold lighting fixture with a Hella Marine or just the bulbs? The lighting fixtures on the 470 seem too small to fit LEDs. Can you send a link?
Thanks |
