Hi all of you,

Can anybody inform me in some detail about the requirements of the CE declaration of conformity that should go with each new yacht? I believe this is legally mandatory.

Hanse Yachts seems to issue a kind of builder's certificate with a CE number, but I have not seen any statement yet telling that the yacht was built according to the CE certification obtained.

What a great forum this is.Thanks for such a quick response
I only recently registered and the CE item is my second posting.
The link given confirms that yes indeed there are several requirements.
I would very much appreciate when some Hanse owner can confirm that these requirements are met at delivery.

UGP,

The CE regulations are long and complex.  They mainly apply to the design of the boat and the equipment - not really something "met at delivery".  By then it would be too late if it did not meet CE.

My understanding is that all EU made boats MUST meet the RCD / CE.  I guess we can trust the inspection process on this - particulalarly for a major  EU manufacturer like Hanse.   Certainly the Hanse has the little plate stating conformity.

Howevet, as you may find in other threads on this forum, these regulations are the basic minimum for safety.  Many Hanse owners will want to go well beyond them in certain areas.

Is there anything in particular that worries you?

Colin,

I meanwhile learned that a new ship requires three items: the CIN number, the CE capacity plate AND a declaration of conformity. This declaration should confirm that the boat is identical to the one approved by the test authority. My concern is about a future sale without having the declaration.

CIN is stamped on back of boat.  The plate is by the companion way.  The certificate is with your ships papers on handover.  Note that all EU boats must conform so this is really only a worry if you buy out of the EU.
