Hanse Rally / Medway Regatta

18th – 19th July 2009

Hanse UK and the Medway Yacht Club are delighted to invite all Hanse owners to participate in the Hanse Rally as part of the Medway Regatta over the weekend 18th – 19th July 2009.

The main Hanse event will be a Saturday 18th July with opportunity for competitive racing or for the more genteel amongst the fleet a white sails only “race” and raft up.

MYC invite all Hanses to join in the Medway Regatta either in whole or in part if there is enough interest a class start will be organised.  Four boats have already signed up including a 312, a 317 and two 400’s.

Itinerary:

Thursday 16th – Short evening race followed by BBQ

Friday 17th – Racing – followed by dinner

Saturday 18th – racing and/or a white sails cruise in company for Hanse yachts with afternoon raft up with evening Regatta Party & Hanse Cup prize giving

Sunday 19th – Morning race followed by Regatta prize giving

Moorings

Free from MYC (where available)

Discount from MDL Chatham Maritime

Non Sailors

Explore the garden of England, the delights of Chatham Historic Dockyard (the birth place of HMS Victory) or the award winning Dickens World exhibition with the facilities of MYC open to family and crew throughout the event.

Medway Yacht Club

Is situated on the river Medway in Kent one of the nine navigable rivers that make up the beautiful lower east coast cruising ground easily reached from the south coast and other east coast ports.  MYC makes an ideal starting point for that alternative summer cruise (avoiding the €uro zone) or the launch pad for a cruise up the Thames to London or over to Holland.

I will try and attend but I think to sail my 301 from Barmouth to the Medway would not be practical, so if there is a chance of a sail, that would be good if not I will just join in with the drinking.

Well interest is growing so far we have had 11 boats express an interest in attending covering the range from 31 to 43 including another 371.

Boats are coming from the south coast and all along the east coast so hopefully we should have a good rally.

Hi all Scotch Mist (312) should be there! We'll be setting off from the Solent Tue or Wed before and heading cross channel after the event, returning the following weekend to the Solent. Anyone want to cruise in company for part of the 'voyage'?

Hi Andrew

Good to hear that we have a couple of south coast boats planning on coming round for the rally, there is plenty of room for more and a cruise in company along the south coast and round to the Medway would be a great way to start the rally.

I am sure you know the passage which can be achieved non stop in about 24 hours or we normally break the journey either at Dover if we are doing two days and Brighton or Royal Sovereign (Eastbourne) if we are taking it easy over three days.

After the rally the Medway is the perfect start point for a trip up the Thames to London or exploring the east cost rivers.

Now all we need is a few friends from France and the Netherlands!

See you at the rally.
