hello to everyone
i have a 2010 hanse 375 that gives me satisfaction for everything except for the 30hp engine that i find not powerful enough.
I would like to change it for a 40hp engine is what someone has already done this transformation.
and if so is it worth it?
thank you for your answers

The 40 HP 3JH4E engine was an add-on to the old 370, for a price. BUT do NOT buy the SD50 saildrive, there are a few hundred posts on this site about the slipping cone clutch.
If you want a 40HP engine, you may research, if your old SD20 saildrive (with dog clutch) fits the larger engine. Otherwise the newer SD60 saildrive may be an option.

I own a Hanse 370 also with a 30hp 3ym30.
For me this motor is absolut enough. Maybe you check your Propellor, before you change the motor. I have a 3 Blade flexofold. Nearly always enough power,  except in strong headwinds combined with steap short waves, But than i usually sail.  I own a sailboat not a motorboat.

I would also expect the 30hp engine to be more than sufficient.  The Volvo D1-30 coupled with the Volvo saildrive and a Gori 2 blade folding prop was easily powerful enough for my 385 with 6.0kts at 2,000 revs and 7.2kts at 2,500 revs on flat water.  In fact the values sent to Volvo after my commissioning sail were 8% higher than this however I subsequently calibrated the boat speed log as I felt it was over-reading.

thank you for the answers
I'm in the mediterranean now, I'm sailing as much as I can thanks to the gennaker and the asymmetric spinnaker.
but in summer the wind is too weak sometimes
and in order to advance to 6 knots I have to put the engine at 2800 rpm, so it consumes too much diesel.
There is also the mistral with gusts of 40 knots and the power is insufficient.
Maybe it's a propeller problem, I have a two-bladed folding propeller 17x13 but I manage to mount the engine at maximum 3600 rpm.
what do you have on your 370 ET 375 with a 30HP motor?

For reference my max speed/revs were 7.8kts at 2,900 revs.
If you can push the engine to 3,600 this might suggest propeller issues?

This is the relationship between RPM, speed, and consumption on the 40HP 3JH4E on my H400.
The steep rise in consumption is typical for all engines, also yours.

CONSUMPTION (Liter/hour)
SPEED(Knots)
REACH WITH FULL TANK(Nm)
1500 RPM  1,7
1500 RPM  4,5
1500 RPM  397
2000 RPM  2,5
2000 RPM  5,8
2000 RPM  348
2250 RPM  4
2250 RPM  6,3
2250 RPM  235
2500 RPM  4,7
2500 RPM  6,8
2500 RPM  217
2950 RPM  8
2950 RPM  7,7
2950 RPM  145

max. rpm for
the Yanmar3YM30 3600 rpm
volvo D1 30 3200 rpm
so I think it's normal that I can mount the engine at 3600rpm.
in cruise I sail at 2500 rpm for a speed of 5,5 knots
what is the size of your propellers

thanks for this table we can see that the consumption of diesel is exponential.

I too have a Yanmar3YM30 which reaches 3600 rpm all too easy.
As I understand Yanmar has specified a too small propeller because they were afraid that the saildrive could not cope a bigger propeller.
I have thought of change to a bigger propeller but not sure if the saildrive would wear off too early. Not sure if that really is an issue.

I think I would have gone for a 2 blade as it is cheaper and more efficient. ;-)
