My new 400e is due to arrive in Southern California any day now! Has anybody successfully installed a bimini on a 400 and if so do you have photos? A collapsible or removable setup would be ideal as I'd only use it during multi-day Summer cruises.
Thanks, TJ |

Sure, here is one picture... if interested, I can probably dig up a few more.

That's a wonderful photo of your beatiful boat! I like the way the name is printed, too. It seems like it's the cold time of year, is it?

Thank you... Yes, it was taken this past December 29th in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Great little town with 48hr complimentary dockage and the “Rose Buddies” see link for more info http://www.elizcity.com/rose/

Carlos and Maria, I notice that you don't have the front "bra" piece on your saildrop. I've not found a way to put that font piece on and keep the lazy jack line which are attached to the front part of the sail tight. Have you?

Quite honestly, we haven't even tried... removed the darn thing when we left Annapolis and never put it back on... |

The problem with the front lazy jack lines and the cover were the subject of a (very) much earlier thread. If the lines are slack enough you can force them into the cover but this presents two problems.
1) It causes chafe on the cover.
2) It places the lazy jack lines next to the mast where they make a slapping noise when the wind gets up.
My solution on my 312 is to leave the cover off while I am using the boat. When I leave the boat I move the front lazy jack lines back to the second line position and then I can fit the cover in front of them. Before sailing again the lines have to be moved back to the forward position. It doesn't take very long to do but I would like to find a way to re-route them so this won't be necessary - any suggestions would be gratefully received!
Regards
Alan

This is the bimini made by NV Equipment for our 430.
As you can see we have no trouble to fix the front cover.... except the fact that we need to climb the mast as the the top-traveler is 3.10m high!! Edited by Alain & Anne - 19 October 2007 at 11:05 |

I have attached snap clips to the lazy jack lines which are closest to the mast. When I am done sailing, i just move them aft and attach them to a loop i put in on the next lazy jack attachment spot. This creates room to put the "bra" on without being encumbered by the lazy jack line. It only takes a few seconds to move the lines around this way. Jon
