Although Hanse is a large corporation and will probably be around for quite a while, I do worry about equipment going out of production or being unavailable indefinitely. I have been slowly each season buying up various duplicates of items such as faucets, drains, shower heads, vent covers, hot/cold mixers, stanchions, hatches, screens, drawer locks, interior lighting, etc...  Anytime I need something from Hanse, I try to throw a couple extra items in the order to make shipping worth while.

Am I crazy?  Or do you guys do the same thing?

It does sound like a good idea.

Even in the unlikely event that Hanse went bust, most of their fittings are outsourced at build from other suppliers and there's a huge range of compatible alternative items.  For example, I've just replaced the faucets with much higher quality items via Amazon.  I really wouldn't worry.

I live a long way from where the boat is kept so don't have the luxury of access to a large garage or other store.  Even if I did, I wouldn't keep anything else other than immediate mission-critical items like filters, fuses, spare toilet pump etc onboard, or if on extended cruises to out of the way places a spare alternator, starter motor; that sort of thing.

From what I have seen,  most parts that are owner replaceable are industry standard parts.   Jabsco fresh and grey water pumps,  RULE bilge pumps,  hot water heaters,  bilge pump switches, etc.   Even the faucets, shower valves, and stern shower can be found on AMAZON, e-BAY or other common sources.   I know because I've done this.

I agree with the idea of keeping spares.    I have 2 spare fresh water pumps, 2 spare grey water pumps,  water witch switches,  spare hot water heating element, and more.     None of which were difficult to find.

The things I worry about are the screwball stuff that is Hanse specific.   The WURTH panel for example. There isn't much of this, but its probably where the real problem will be in the future.

I wish we could put together a inventory list of Hanse part#'s and corresponding products on various third party websites.  That would be really handy.
