Topic: Double Bed ConversionPosted: 05 July 2024 at 07:16 |

Hi there, I’m in the process of buying a Hanse 345, which has not got the double bed conversion option in the saloon. I would like to retrofit this and was wondering if anyone could provide some detailed photos on how this looks with the factory solution. Thanks

Hello there, did you get anywhere with this project? I came across your post whilst looking for something else and saw you had no reply’s. I have the double bed saloon conversion so if you need photos still, I will take some when on the boat in a weeks time. Let me know

Dear Gregg,
I am also following this post and would appreciate to see your photos on this (for my Hanse 345). Thanks a lot.

Hi Both,
If there is some interest here, I will send some detailed photos in a week when I am back to the boat. Actually I have two old pictures from when the boat was new because we had a warranty problem (no ply fitted to infill cushion which meant they went straight through a hole
). Picture shows the overview of how it works - basically a vertical facia panel in cabin wood colour which meets the cabin floor attached to 12mm ply horizontally which slides over seat bases. Tracks cut in ply slide over 12mm dowels in the regular seat base - it’s a little crude in my opinion and awkward to drag out but I’m sure somebody could come up with an improved if retrofitting something similar. |

Hi Gregg, I haven’t had any success with photos of the conversion yet. If you could provide some images of the timber framing underneath the upholstery for bot situations (in/out) that would be fantastic. Thanks Peter

Hi Peter,
Of course, I’m back at the boat on Monday so I will add some more detailed photos. Just to set your expectations though, there is hardly any changes apart from the dowels to guide the sliding section - there is no additional reinforcement. We had to make some repairs due to this lack of reinforcement so I’ll capture these repairs too so you can identify the stress points and protect against failures from the outset. Photos to follow in a few days.

Awesome, thanks Gregg. I bought the yacht 3 weeks ago and that’s the only thing really missing. Everything else is just perfect.

Hi Greg. Just a comment here. I have a similar system on my 588 with the sliding arrangement you describe. My infill cushions don’t have ply either, but I believe the intention was to use the main cushions which have a plywood bottom, to slide out with base and to add the fill cushions under the seat backs where there is a solid seat base.
