Repairing smaller damages in deck

   Hi,
I have a few smaller damages in the deck that I would like to take care of. Attached a picture of perhaps the worst one. Does anyone have hints on how to best fix this, especially when the surface is'nt flat (like in the picture attacted) but with the rugged deck surface? If possible, I would like to restore it with the exact same rugged pattern. Does anyone know what color code ('white') it is (Hanse 400 2007)?

	This is antiskid cover glued on top of the deck, Just google "antiskid cover hanse", you will see many posts on this forum how to fix it.

	Rather than try to glue down a thin patch of non-skid, you might want to mould a gelcoat repair in situ. Andy from boatworkstoday.com shows you how to make the mould from your undamaged deck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpsRljqBH0o, and then in a second youtube video how to make the repair using the mould: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eZLorXTNys&list=PLV97GZkHhpHPXBTjmCeNuElLv0Luq1BQ4&index=2. My 2016 345 hull and deck is finished in the standard Hanse white which is RAL 9003. Good luck & regards, Paul

	I took a different view and 'managed my own expectations' with the same type of damage. I realised that my skills were never going to be anywhere near those of (perhaps professional) YouTubers, while considering that anything bigger than repair of the exact area of damage would just create a larger area of difference on the deck that would annoy me yet more. Having bodged car repairs in my youth I didn't want to risk making the area look worse with my amateur attempts at repair. My aim was to place a weatherproof barrier over the damage and limit the cosmetic 'offence' as much as possible so I simply dabbed the area with gelcoat of a similar colour. I've done several such repairs and while of course you notice them when you deliberately look for them, after a while they become virtually invisible on normal use of the boat. While because of weathering the colour of the repair material is certain to be different at first, this quickly blends in after a season or so. 'Perfect' can be the enemy of 'good'.....

	I’m with Ratbasher on this one. Often you can achieve 95 percent of the result with 5 percent of the effort.

	I have repaired a small area on our nonslip with the correct gelcoat colour and used a silicon mold of the deck "dimples" and it is easy and almost undetectable. It is not all that hard to do. Using the correct gelcoat colour is the first step to a good repair.
