Engine hours unreadable on control panel - 2012 415.Has anyone changed this and if so how, or does the whole panel need changing?
Thanks
Rod

Hi Rod
Mine of the same vintage is still OK but I read somewhere that in many cases the control panel can be made visible again by warming the whole unit for a couple of days in a dry environment. I have never tried this so I can't vouch for it working but it might be worth trying if no better (easier) solution is suggested.
Good luck.
Roger

Look at this thread, for details of a cheap and simple replacement.  Those words are not said often in yachting.

Somewhere on the forum, somebody gave details of a supplier in mainland Europe, but I have forgot where.

On our panel, it was just the LCD polarising film that had degraded.

It is a bit of micro-surgery but we bought a sheet of self-adhesive clear (not tinted) polarising film off eBay, stripped the gauge unit removing the old film carefully from LCD display with a shape knife blade then applying new film. The film must be applied in the correct orientation so you need to be able to power the gauges and rotate the film for clearest LCD image before sticking the film down. Worked out really well although it turned out our film has a slight tint so display is a little darker then it was so make sure the film is zero-tint.

If you don't understand what the polarising film is, this Wikipedia article will help. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid-crystal_display

There is also a 'dimming' feature on these screens. Make sure you haven't inadvertently dimmed to the lowest setting, which renders it nearly invisible.
