I have recurring problems starting the engine with the Yanmar YD25 Panel installed in Yanmar 3JH 40 engine. This YD25 panel introduced in year 2019 has an electronic control on the engine ignition: if the panel does not work for any problem there is no way to start the engine! Which is terribly unsafe if this happens in open sea 50 miles away or in adverse sea conditions. Did anybody have a similar problem? Any solution? |

On the smaller Volvo engines one can fit a momentary switch with wiring between the starter solenoid & the electric supply . This bypasses all the switch gear & allows one to get the engine running. One will not get rev counter etc working but who cares in an emergency so long as one has propulsion. I have permanently installed the switch on a bracket in the engine bay. I have used reasonably heavy cable & a 60 amp switch. The engine has a stop button on the side but you can always just turn the fuel off when in port if you do not have any alternative. Jump in at 5 minutes on this one Presumably a similar system can be fitted to smaller Yanmar engines
