Last year in our 370 we found that the boat weaved about through a huge arc when at anchor in a breeze. It could be quite uncomfortable at times. For our 415 I had an Anchor Riding Sail made to a design I saw on the web.

I hoisted it yesterday to get all the lines setup & then a F5/6 wind came in shortly after. The effect was dramatic. The boat only moved slowly through an arc of about 15/20 degrees. The evening before in 10 knots, 45 degrees.

If you would like further details or pics send me a PM with your email address as my photos are too big to load on the forum.

Happy anchoring guys.

I have also noticed the 415 likes to really sail around the anchorage, and having seen a number of boats in the US using these, this was on my to do list.
Love to have a copy of your design and photos - lifesabeach247@gmail.com
Thanks

I would also be interested in the design. Can you post the link to the website on here and then everyone can see it?
Thanks
Roger

The link to the US supplier is: www.bannerbaymarine.com. There are several sizes of sail for different size boats. I increased the dimensions of the foot & fin leech from 2.4 to 2.5 metres as the 415 was partway between 2 of their "from & to boat sizes.

Private message me if you want more info or photos. My photos are too large for the Forum.

I have done a lot of anchoring with both my older 430 and my existing 545. Both were "traveling" quite a bit and sometimes it was uncomfortable. The solution we found was an anchor plow sail. It works very well leaving the boat fairly steady up to 10-12 ms.

We bought the sail from this supplier http://www.lundhsails.se/ankarplog

Cheers

I use my storm try sail to stabilize the boat at anchor, although this day is dead calm.  Pics follow.  The second pic shows the track that runs from near deck-height.

Hello WIld

I checked the home page for lundhsails (see above) and they quote a price of 4500 SEK about 480 euro for a plowsail which fit 40-50 foot. You shold send them an email and get quote for 54 foot. Its been a few years since I bought mine so I do not remember the price I paid.

Cheers
