Hi
Anybody have an idea as to get a 12v cable up to the first spreader without removing the mast.It looks like all my existing cables enter through the mast base.
Any ideas would be much appreciated

I’ve done a few cable runs on my 588 and getting from point A to point B in the mast depends on where you start and where you end. There is a conduit on the forward face which runs from the base to the radar, steaming light location. I didn’t have a messenger line there so I used an existing wire to pull up my cable and a messenger line, and then pulled the existing cable back down. I also ran wires to the mast head from the base and used the existing messenger line in the aft conduit for that, although the previous method would still work. There was also an instant where dropping a wire inside the mast where the halyards run was necessary. But be aware that there is a water dam at deck level inside the mast that is in the way. (The conduits pass through the dam). In this case I exited the mast at deck level above the dam, passed the wire down outside the mast at the deck opening, and then below inside the cabin. Hope this helps a bit.

Hi Leon
Many thanks for the info on this one and upon very close inspection I find the someone has conveniently left a messenger line. Not sure yet if it goes to spreader or the top yet.But with your info I have a head start on my project.
