Hi,
Anyone with experience using a short overlapping headsail such as a 105-110% High aspect jib instead of 130-140% Genuas on Hanse 370?. This would then be a compliment to the very convinient selftacker and used mainly in ragattas.
I have understood that this have worked out good on Hanse 341/342 but the recommendation have then be to arrange new genuatracks on the roof to ensure adequate wind angle.
In Norway/sweden you can get good rating in regattas going for a short overlapping head instead of 130-140% genuas.
Thanks in advance!
Br Loomis

I have used (it is now totall loss due to to much wind and since it was a second hand) a 110 % High aspect from UK tapedrive and it was much more powerfull then the selftacker, and much faster.
I sailed even higher with the high aspect.
I mounted longer tracks on the deck and did lead the sheets between the stays.
on my site you can see pics of it http://hanse.tuxmanro.nl/ just scroll trough my pages and you can check it.
Succes

Hi
I have both a 107% and a 150% (Quantum). The 107% is sheeted on coachroof (Hanse have moulded aluminium-plates in cochroof in this area). Speed and windangle is very good from approx 10 knots TWS. See pictures. The 150% I bought to be able to get performance in less winds, and my experience is good performance from 4 an all the way up to 15 knot TWS. ![]() |

Thanks both for sharing your experiences...seems that a High aspect can be used with good result.
